Marketplace & Main is a redevelopment project that was initiated by another developer and acquired by The Beard Group Inc. in the late fall of 2006. Due to competing demands the initial developer was compelled to sell the project for the sake of the project’s timely execution. At the request of the city of Hopkin’s redevelopment leadership, The Beard Group Inc. negotiated the transfer and then refined the plan in order to satisfy the vision and timelines of the City. Marketplace & Main will continue the eastward improvements in the Hopkins Mainstreet redevelopment initiative. The four story namesake structure will provide 44 residences, specialty services and retail. Architecturally compatible town-homes will frame the project while fully utilizing the angular property site.
Property/Site
A 1.6 acre triangulated piece of core business district that is intersected by 7th Avenue North and bordered by Mainstreet and the Lake Minnetonka Regional hiking path. In the past the site was home to numerous commercial and auto enterprises. The redevelopment calls for the razing of two buildings that had more than outlived their viability. Beginning in June of 2007 a new Marketplace & Main model sales facility will operated at the location.
Project Information
The namesake building will feature 44 residences; available in a variety of unique floor plans – from one bedroom with den to spacious two bedrooms with den. The homes will provide modern, high quality appliances, finishing touches and lifestyle amenities expected in homes costing far more. The overall design, common areas and shared amenities such as heated underground parking, community room and club quality fitness center combine with the ambiance of downtown for a special living experience.
